The Daily Catch

What we keep, and why

Covers The Daily Catch app and this website. Effective 28 October 2026.

The short version. Your tasks, catch, boat and Harbourmaster check-ins live on your phone. We don't run ads, we don't sell data, and we don't use tracking or analytics tools. This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. If you sign up to our newsletter, we keep your email to send it. If you turn on backup later, a copy of your progress is stored so you don't lose it, but your check-ins and money amounts never leave your phone.

Who we are

The Daily Catch is a trading name of Kerbside Systems Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17190622), registered office 47 Lees New Road, Oldham, England, OL4 5PL. We're the controller of the personal data described here, which means we decide how it's used and we're responsible for protecting it.

We're registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), registration number ZC271200.

What's on your phone (and stays there)

The app saves your progress on your device so it works offline:

The app keeps a second copy of this save inside the app itself, so it can put your progress back if your phone clears the app's storage. That copy is on your phone too.

The daily nudge

Your one nudge a day is scheduled on your phone by the phone's own notification system. No nudge data is sent to us. You can change the time or switch it off in Settings, or turn notifications off in your phone's settings.

This website

thedailycatch.app sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Our web host keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser and the pages requested) for a short time to keep the site running and secure. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a working, secure website. If you email us, we use your email only to reply.

Our newsletter (News from the harbour)

WhatWhyHow long
Your email address, the date you signed up and which page you signed up onTo send you the newsletter, and to show you asked for itUntil you unsubscribe; then removed within 30 days

Our lawful basis is your consent, which you give by signing up. The newsletter is for ages 16 and up. It's sent with EmailOctopus, which stores the list for us and only uses it to send our emails. Every email has an unsubscribe link, or email us and we'll take you off.

The sign-up form may use Cloudflare Turnstile, a check that you're a person rather than a bot. It runs only on the sign-up and doesn't track you around the web.

Backup and accounts (coming in a later update)

When we add sign-in (with a code emailed to you) so you don't lose your boat if you lose your phone, we'll store:

This is stored on our own servers in the UK, encrypted. Backup is optional; the app works fully without an account. Our lawful basis is providing the service you asked for. If you don't open the app for two years, we'll email you, and 30 days later delete the account and its backup. You can delete it yourself at any time in the app or by emailing us. We'll update this policy before that feature goes live.

Pro subscriptions

Payments are handled by the App Store or Google Play. We never see your card details. To know whether you have Pro, we use RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous app ID and your purchase status from the store. Pro is for 18 and over; under-18s can't buy anything in the app.

Links out of the app

The Need to talk screen and the Money pages link to Samaritans, CALM, Shout, NHS 111, Andy's Man Club, MoneyHelper and StepChange. These open outside the app and we don't know whether you tap them or what you say. Those services have their own privacy policies.

Under-18s

The app is for ages 16 and up. If you tell us in setup that you're 16 or 17, the app turns off purchases and social features, and we don't ask for any information beyond what's needed for the app to work. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct, download or delete the data we hold about you, or object to how we use it.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

What The Daily Catch isn't

It's a habit app with a wellbeing layer. It isn't therapy, medical advice or financial advice, and it doesn't diagnose or monitor anything.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top, and tell you in the app before anything new is collected.
